I’ve come across this error several times throughout my development career so I figured it was finally time to write it down.

The stack trace line saying `ld: library not found for -lssl` will give you the hint about what information is missing (ssl lib not found). The problem is that a library is missing. As you can see on this line. Ld: library not found for -lssl This is how we solved it. Step 1: Double-check if openssl is installed and install it if not. Brew install openssl. Step 2: Check if you use bash/zsh/fish or whatever and identify the config file. He is using zsh on mac so the file is /.zshrc.

Ld library not found for lssl mac mysql tutorial
Hello
I've tried the mentioned method, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.
When i run 'python setup.py build', after editing the '_mysql.c' file, I get:
$python setup.py build

Any else had that problem ?
Can it be because I'm using a PowerBook, and not an Intel Mac?
- Jesper
UPDATE:
Seems it was kind of the same solution as mentioned, except I had to do:
sudo cp /usr/local/mysql/lib/libmysqlclient* /usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql/
before I did a build, and then it works just fine.
