Musically, it begins with a sax section with repeated arpeggios. It also contains trumpet and trombones riffs.

The two solos included in the song consist in a tenor fight between Al Klink and Tex Beneke and in a trumpet solo. The famous musical composition ends with an ascending coda and a tonic pitch with a rim shot.

The song was written by Joe Garland, Andy Razaf and Wingy Manone.
