WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, (CPSC), Dixon Industries Inc., of Coffeyville Kan., is recalling about 28,000 riding lawn mowers. The fuel tanks on these mowers can crack and leak fuel, posing a fire hazard and risk of burn injuries to consumers.
Dixon has received about 532 reports of fuel leaking from these mowers. There are no reports of injuries or property damage, other than minor lawn damage.
The recall includes the following model Dixon ZTR riding mowers, which are blue, with the serial numbers in the following ranges:

The model numbers are located on the body of the mower near the bottom of the seat, or on both sides of the front of the body above the wheels. The serial numbers are located on the left rear corner of the riding mowers, behind the engine. The name 'DIXON' is on the front of the mowers.
Dixon dealers sold these mowers nationwide at various time periods from July 1997 through March 2002 for between $2,500 and $7,400.
Consumers should stop using these mowers immediately and contact their nearest Dixon dealer for free installation of a replacement fuel tank.
